Today I’m continuing with The Original Sinners series, a series that I am 100% obsessed with. I continued on my binge read with the next two books which begin the four book prequel part of the series. If you want to read my review of the first four, you can here.
You guys. YOU GUYS. I cannot express my love for this series in words. This is probably going to be gibberish and I apologize in advance. But these books are just so freaking good! The second half of this series is called The White Years and it’s a prequel to books 1-4.
In The Saint we see how Soren and Eleanor’s relationship first began. I loved watching Soren exercise self-control when Eleanor tested his patience. It’s hard to believe that this Eleanor turns into THE Nora Sutherlin. But at the same time, it’s not hard. She was a spitfire from the start and the fact that Soren thought she would a good little submissive is hilarious. I loved seeing Eleanor slowly allow herself to be immersed in this world of kink. I loved that she was so fearless. She was just ready for anything and she trusted Soren unconditionally.
And Soren!!! Soren was so patient with Eleanor. I loved how he deprived himself of what he wanted so that Eleanor could live her life. He made her go to college. He made her meet other people. Because he wanted their relationship to be 100% her choice. He wanted her to see what her other options were before making any kind of decision. The respect that he has for her goes beyond any I’ve seen. His love for her is so real and true. God, I just love these two together. So much. One of my favorite couples I’ve ever read about.
And then there’s The King. Mon Dieu. (That’s French for My God in case you were wondering…) Kingsley Edge has wormed his way into my top 5 book boyfriends. I am so in love with this man. This book broke my heart. To see where he was at in the beginning. Depressed. Not sure if he wanted to live. It killed me to see my King fallen so far. But then, with Soren’s help, he pulls himself up by his boot straps (them riding boots though) and puts his life back together. He finds a new reason for living. He builds a kingdom to help all those like him. He builds a kingdom for Soren. For Eleanor. But most importantly, I believe that Kingsley built the kingdom for himself. He needed that. I loved watching him go from rock bottom to the top.
And then the ending. I won’t spoil you, obviously, but Kingsley has the biggest heart of anyone I know. He loves and protects his own like nobody else. If you’re friends with Kingsley Edge, you’re safe for life. Because he would never let anything bad happen to you.
These books are just incredible. I continue to be blown away by the depth of these characters and their relationships. Kelly told me that when she reads these books, it’s like coming home. She’s right. These characters are home to me now. I feel like my life is going to be over when the series is over. What the hell am I going to do/read when this is over? I’m already caught up now and with two more books to go, the panic is starting to set in. I guess I’ll just have to buy the hard copies (obviously) and reread them all. Amazing, incredible. These books have burrowed their way into my heart and will forever hold a piece of me.
Have you read these books? Are you in love with Kingsley like I am?
